The Playa del Carmen barrier reef belongs to the second largest reef in the world, which makes it the perfect place to enjoy Caribbean diving. There are up to 500 species of fish and about 65 species of corals. All the dive sites range from 30 to 100 ft with only slight currents and rather easy conditions. Thus, they are suitable for all diving levels. The average visibility is 100 ft and the water temperature ranges from 79 degrees in winter to 84 degrees in summer. We dive at all the dive sites of Playa del Carmen, the best area along with Cozumel in Riviera Maya. Most of the dive sites are closed to the shore, 10 to 30 minutes by boat. We dive in small groups with a maximum of 4 divers per guide. A day of diving in Playa del Carmen: The Playa del Carmen tour takes around 4-5 hours. Depending on whether you're going to dive in the morning or the afternoon, we will pick you up at your accommodation early enough to take the boat around 8 am or 12 pm. After two dives at different reefs with snacks and drinks on the boat we will bring you back to your accommodation. Cozumel Island: Along Cozumel Island you will find a great variety of dive sites ranging from shallow plateaus with colorful giant coral blocks and swim throughs to breathtaking walls and drop offs, covered in sponges and corals. Dive into crystal-clear waters and let the currents take you alongside large schools of tropical fish, majestic sea turtles, rays and sharks and explore with us one of the favorite diving spots of Jaques Cousteau. We would recommend the Cozumel dive sites for rather experienced divers due to frequently stronger currents. However, there are also numerous sites suitable for beginners as we always have the opportunity to stay at the more sheltered and shallow part of the reef. If you have any questions about that, we are more than happy to review this further with you. A day of diving in Cozumel: The dive trip to the reefs of Cozumel is a tour of around 6-7 hours. We leave early in the morning from our assigned pick-up point to get to the boat at 8 am. The boat ride will take around 45 minutes. Here we will enjoy two reef dives at two different dive sites. During the surface interval we will be provided with sandwiches, snacks and drinks on the boat. After returning to shore in Playa del Carmen, we will drive you back to your accommodation.
